Today we would like to introduce you to Sophia Désirée Piëch (20), a dedicated tennis player who is currently in her second year of training at the Swiss Academy. Her path to the Academy began with a clear goal: to find a school that would support her training schedule and at the same time promote her academic success.
Sophia previously trained five to six hours a day in Nice, France, and had been homeschooling since the age of 14. This time brought sporting success, but also academic challenges, as she often found learning without guidance difficult. With the Swiss Academy, she found a school that supported both her athletic and academic goals and successfully prepared her for graduation.
"I was initially worried about going back to school because I thought I might struggle in some subjects. But the teachers were incredibly helpful and the Swiss Academy always gave us enough time to do our homework."
Her goals are impressive: Sophia not only wanted to find a balance between sport and school, but also to be accepted into the best universities in the USA. With the support of the Swiss Academy, she was able to realize her dream and received acceptances from renowned universities such as USC and NYU.
She also benefited from numerous workshops, inspiring guest lectures and close interaction with teachers and fellow students. The flexibility of the Swiss Academy enabled her to pursue her sports training and her academic education at the same time.
What does Sophia's future look like?
"I want to apply the knowledge I learned at the Swiss Academy to my studies at USC. In tennis, I plan to participate in United States Tennis Association (USTA) tournaments and make the move from Switzerland to Los Angeles a successful one."
Sophia plans to complete her Bachelor's degree with a focus on sports or automotive marketing or entrepreneurship and then go on to study for an MBA or law degree in the USA.
That sounds like a great journey, Sophia! We are proud to accompany you on your journey and look forward to everything you will achieve in the future.
